Games for 18-24 month olds
Stack Inside!
Toddlers love to put one thing inside another, give her a stack of plastic bowls and show her how to place them inside one another. This will teach her about size and shape and help her develop problem solving skills.
Homemade Rattles
A few small jars with beans or pennies inside (make sure the lids are very secure!) will delight you toddler as she shakes them to make different noises.
Sand Play
A sand pit will be a wonderful play thing for your toddler. Show him how to build a sandcastle or draw in the sand and get his creativity flowing!.
Drawing
Even an 18 month old is able to draw in a basic way, scribbling is a good start to creativity and a large piece of paper will allow her to experiment on a grand scale and will allow her to develop her creativity and fine motor skills.
Point to the body parts
Simply asking you toddler to point to your nose, hair or mouth will teach her a lot about language and awareness, as she gets better at understanding you can start to differentiate between her facial feature and your own.
Basketball
An empty washing up bowl and a ball will help your child to develop motor skills and hand-eye coordination. As he gets better at putting the ball into the bowl move the bowl further away, encouraging him to throw.
