Your baby
For many mothers it isdifficult imagining thierpregnancy to be the growth of a real seeing,hearing tasting and feeling human being.
However, the truth is that long before he is born your baby possesses all of the key senses that make him aware of the world around him.
Hearing
By 15 weeks after conception your baby will be able to hear. At first much of what he hears will be the noises going on around him inside your body. Your heartbeat for will be loud and clear to him! As he grows bigger he will begin to hear your voice and other nosies going on in the outside world, by the time you are five months pregnant you can talk to your baby your baby and he will hear you, all the time learning the sound of your voice. From this moment on he will be learning about pitch, tone and conversation, all valuable lessons for after his birth. In the last months of pregnancy your baby's hearing is very well developed and he will differentiate between voices and other sounds and can even tell the difference in styles of music.
Smell
Your baby's sense of smell is very well developed at birth. In fact, for a number of months before he is born he is able to smell the amniotic fluid in the womb. Smell is one of your baby's most important sense as it allows him to find your breast straight after birth. Vision Your baby will open his eyes for the first time at around 24-26 weeks of pregnancy. He will not see much, but if a light shines on your stomach he will be able to recognize the difference between light and dark.
Taste
By six months after conception your baby is able to taste the amniotic fluid. How this tastes is influenced by what you eat. By the time he is born your baby will already have experienced a wide range of tastes!
Touch
Your baby's sense of touch is one of the most stimulated senses both before and after birth. Before he is born he can feels the walls of the uterus, the umbilical cord ,the amniotic fluid and of course his own body. After birth your baby will still crave the feeling of being held and caressed, as he gets older he will enjoy using this sense to try out new textures and feelings.
